Speech Therapy & Assessment

What does assessment look like with Little Language Lab?

1. Free Consultation

We provide a free consultation before any assessment to determine whether an assessment is necessary and to ensure we are the right fit for your needs. If we’re not the best match, we’ll gladly refer you to our extensive network of SLPs in the area! We only complete evaluations for children we have room to treat in our therapy schedule except in special circumstances.

*Not all children need an evaluation if a recent assessment is available from another provider or school district.

2. Assessment Appointment

Assessment appointments typically last 1–2 hours but will continue as needed to gather all the necessary information about your child’s communication development. For children under 3 years old, we rely heavily on parent questionnaires and interviews, play-based observations, and language sampling. For older children, we incorporate more direct and standardized assessments.

3. Results and Next Steps

After completing the assessment, we will provide you with a detailed written report of our findings. We’ll review the results with you either by phone or in person at your next scheduled appointment, depending on your preference. Please note, not all assessments result in a recommendation for therapy.

If therapy is recommended, we’ll use this meeting to discuss the next steps, set goals, and determine an appropriate therapy schedule together. At the end of each month, you will receive a superbill summarizing the services your child has received, which you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement.
